We must stop searching the Earth for our truth, or we will spend our entire lives sailing seas full of experiences that will tell us that we are less than. Our discovery of our truth begins with entering the cave of our hearts and embracing the diamonds and carbon that make up Who We Are.
We underestimate our ability to define ourselves, who we want to be, and the impact we want to leave on the world. And despite the gold mine we are sitting on, we excavate the ground, digging through scattered thoughts for an answer to that nagging question, “Who am I?” It is time to stop the search and look within. Dig deeper, past the shell that hides your light and your truth within it. To embrace yourself you must love both the diamonds and the rough parts of your existence. There will be people who will push you to bury those parts, to discard them as if they are not also a vital piece to your puzzle. But do not fret, because just as there are no roses without thorns, and there are no gold mines without coal, there are no beautiful souls without unsightly scars. Acknowledge your flaws, but do not attack them. For nature has shown us that there is beauty in our story. Why criticize the body that carried you through every difficult journey? Why criticize the soul that was with you for every step of the way? . There are no manuals to self love and self discovery. So how do we learn to accept ourselves? To embrace this diamond? Think about it, where do we go to find diamonds? We enter dark, auspicious caves and explore in hopes of coming out with precious rocks in our hands. Now what if I told you that those precious rocks, that those diamonds, are your truth? That the very beauty you’ve been told to neglect is worth comparing to the strongest, most valuable stone in the world. It is your duty to discover your diamond, and to put it on the pedestal that it deserves. Respect your diamond. Respect your truth. Every flaw that your diamond beholds is worthy of reverence, just as you are. So I shall say it again, there are no beautiful souls without unsightly scars, and it is about time you started embracing yours. Thank you.
