Elegy to an extra hour of sleep
by Poetry Today Oh bed! I miss you so much. The starry night sky and the cold night clutch Was still out this morning Because they took away an hour. Daylight Saving Time-- It’s a thief. An hour is gone. It’s nice to wake up with the stars. I sip my coffee earlier. The sun lasts longer, And brings with it summer days. “Oh well. You’re gone. I guess I have to move on.” We’ll move on and adjust, Until you come again And give me my hour of sleep back.
